Under the direction of full time Chief Scott Spencer 30 paid on call firefighters and 35 paid on call emergency medical technicians, 10 employees do both, respond to over 1100 medical calls a year and over 350 fire responses a year. Chief Spencer is assisted by 2 assistant fire chiefs and 2 assistant EMS chiefs.
Payson Fire and Ambulance cover an area of 127 square miles including Payson City, unincorparated Utah County. Payson Canyon, West Mountain, Spring Lake and Benjamin. The ambulance also covers the medical emergencies in Elk Ridge City. The population served is around 19000. The ambulance consists of all certified emergency medical technicians at basic and intermediate levels. The service level is EMT-Intermediate. The fire rescue department are certified to firefighter 1 and 2 and also hazardous materials operations and certified wildland firefighters.
